Youth Group – Church of the Rock offers our teens an opportunity to fellowship with one another and study the Word of God twice a month. On the second and fourth Sunday of every month (September through May) COTR hosts two youth groups; one for students of middle school age and one for students attending high school.
Both groups meet either at the church or in the home of one of the teachers. A typical meeting consists of pizza, pop and some informal socializing or group activity at 5:30 PM, followed by an hour of teaching/discussion on Biblical truth.
We believe this ministry to be crucial in assisting and encouraging our children to live their lives by the standards God has set forth through His Word. Our children are faced with challenges and temptations every day, just as adults are; and they need to know there are other Christian children fighting those same battles right along with them.
We believe keeping our children grounded in the Word of God provides them with the armor they desperately need as they shine the Light of Christ in this spiritually dark world.
“Raise a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.”Proverbs 22:6
Junior Church – [Held each Sunday during the adult sermon] Here at Church Of The Rock, we love our children! Games, crafts, skits and biblical teaching provide preschool through elementary age students with an exciting environment in which to learn about Gods’ love and grow spiritually. Our Junior Church teachers provide a safe and caring setting every Sunday morning in which children can learn more about God through creative, engaging and biblical teachings.
COTR’s mission is to “bring our children up in the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4), and impart to them a “God-centered way of life” (Deuteronomy 6:4). Ultimately, we desire to see children passionately desire God, reason biblically for themselves, and discover their role in God’s Kingdom.

Couples Mentoring – In 2002, COTR began a ministry of mentoring engaged couples who where being married by our pastors. It began with three mentoring couples and three engaged couples. Today four mentoring couples, Dave & Linda Burcham, Mark & Kari Brungard, Nick & Katie Glatzer and Jim & Pam Guido, continue the ministry.
Goals of the ministry include exploring God’s plan for marriage and the roles of husband and wife. We use God’s word in Ephesians 5:21-30, Ecclesiastes 4:9-11, 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, as well as others. A second goal is to explore strengths and weaknesses specific to each couple. The FOCCUS, Inc. survey helps us to discover, discuss and direct the path to a healthy marriage. Our third goal is to give support in the construction of the “new family”. Dr. Gary Ghapman’s book, 5 Love Languages, is another valuable tool.
In these 12 years of mentoring more than a dozen couples, our own marriage has been richly blessed. Early on we discovered the value of knowing our love language; that a good marriage can be great; that ”Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s plan that prevails” (Proverbs 19:21).
The mentoring ministry is a strong statement of the COTR’s support and commitment to God’s plan for marriage.
